Pregnancy
Pregnancy is a time of profound change. During check-ups, physical changes are monitored by measuring blood pressure, testing blood and urine, and measuring and palpating the growing abdomen. The growth and well-being of the child can be monitored through manual examinations and heartbeat checks. During check-ups, there is plenty of opportunity for questions and advice regarding pregnancy symptoms and psychosocial changes. The connection between parents and their child is consciously encouraged. A check-up lasts between 30 and 60 minutes and takes place at the pregnant woman’s home or in the practice.
In the case of a healthy pregnancy, all check-ups can be carried out by the midwife, with the exception of ultrasound scans and some laboratory tests. In the event of risks, complications, pre-existing or secondary conditions, the check-ups are carried out alternately and in cooperation with gynecologists and/or relevant specialists.
